My girls lay really late in the day...like 4pm late! Is this 'normal'. Are laying times and feeding times related at all. A needless to say I am a newby chicky mama!

A chicken will lay whenever they are ready for it, so it's perfectly normal. A chicken can produce an egg about every 24-26 hours (with 14 hours of sunlight). It's actually fairly common for a hen to lay in late afternoon.

Yep! Our black australorp lays between 4 and 4:30, although yesterday it was almost 5:30.

They just like to do things on their terms. lol!
