I took advantage of the beautiful weather.we had this weekend to get some more work done on the Banty Shanty:

First, and most important, had to position signage. [IMG]

Ok, so, onto the more substantial stuff:

Got some hardware cloth on all the windows (have the holes in my hands to prove it):

Got the nesting boxes done (view from the inside):

From the outside. Now, here's the "fun" part. There are 2 ways you can gather the eggs. The lower door:

Or, if you're feeling a bit more "adventurous," you can gather the eggs thru the top door: [IMG]

Just make sure you put the lid down before you go:

What's a Shanty without an Outhouse! [IMG]

Interesting outhouse facts. When outhouses were first established in the 1800s, a lot of folks couldn't read. Therefore, in order to tell the difference, a women's outhouse had the crescent moon, whereas the men's outhouse had a star.

For the most part, the Banty Shanty is done!!! Just have a punch out list of things to do.

Right side with doors open and removable roosts (for ease of cleaning):

Used some old metal roofing we had lying around:

I'm pretty tickled with the way this turned out. I think overall it has that "shanty" look we were going for. [IMG]

Still need to build the hoop pens but I'm optimistic that I have the banties out by this upcoming weekend (at the latest July 4th weekend).
