Hello fellow Mainers!

I am from Sabattus and am starting up a backyard flock. My husband is currently building a 4x8 coop. I would love to hear some tips or suggestions!

You will want your coop to have plenty of ventilation without it being too drafty. I learned that the hard way i had a light brown leghorn rooster that got frostbite. I was treating him and then all of a sudden one day i went out and he had passed away. I did an autopsy and the infection went into his brain and killed him. You need to have a minimum of 4 sq ft per bird in the coop and 10 sq ft in the run.
