Major clutch mess-up.

Yesterday I asked my husband to please go out and gather the eggs. I have two hens sitting side by side on eggs in one of the houses so naturally he ignored my info from a couple days ago that I decided on July 3rd that I was going to let them set. Back to yesterday - he went into their hen house and collected the eggs the hens are setting on. I stopped him when he had 12 in the basket and he just put them back in the nesting area willy-nilly. Question is: will this damage the embryos? The hens went back to setting the eggs when we left the coop.

Handling the eggs will not affect their viability. Hopefully all were at the same point of development or got put back under the proper hen. By the way, we husbands don't always hear what you wives say.

Thanks. That settles my mind on this. My poor husband feels really guilty - I really did tell him no big deal.
