My two little peachicks are just crossing the 2 week line and I am noticing some differences in the color patterns of what (for lack of a better description) appear to be 'shoulder' feathers. They are not on the wings, they are on the back where the shoulder area would be. Saddle feathers? Since describing it is fairly useless, I took some pictures. I am wondering if this difference in color/pattern is significant (male/female? Will #2 feather into the barred pattern of a male?) or if it's just a pattern variation with no significant meaning and I won't be able to tell a darn thing for at least another 2 weeks. This is my first time ever having chicks so darn young and I am trying to learn for future reference. They both are (should be) india blue dark pied white eye. The breeder said the eggs came from an all silver pied pen and I assume she had india blue silver pied as any other sort might have beared mentioning. The first peachick has 'shoulder' feathers with clear striation of color- speckled brown, then black, then lighter brown. The second peachick has 'shoulder' feathers that are speckled brown over the whole feather. Thanks for the help!
