Hi,

I had my male cockatiel for 2 years he was only one week old when I started hand feeding him, he is very attached to me, about a month ago I got him a 13 months old female she showed interest in him by coming closer to him and lower her head down for his attention but he keeps rejecting her and don't sing to her but as soon as he see me he start singing non-stop. I tried to ignore him and not taking him out of the cage but he still doesn't want anything to do with the female.
I thank you all for taking the time to help me with this issue

To be honest I have no idea what his problem is but i would check some other site out as this one is mainly focused on chickens, ducks, geese, guineas and rarely quail. These birds a far different from exotic birds such as yours and aren't as picky when it comes to mates. Sorry I couldn't help you but I don't think you'd get a very good answer from a bunch of chicken keepers

It's not unusual for hand reared birds, especially one brought up on its own, to be strongly attached to its owner and show no interest in a bird of the opposite sex. They don't see themselves as a bird. They identify with you, not their species. It's unlikely he will ever accept a bird as a partner seeing as he's been with you for two years. That's a long time to a bird.
