I just started to notice that my male Peking duck will not put pressure on his feet. For example, I will lift him to help him out of his pool, but when I go to set him down on the ground he will not put his feet down to land. Another example is that he will not run. He will walk, and is walking normally, but when herded back into his pen he will not go and faster than what looks like a painful "jog". He waits to be picked up and carried which is unlike him normally. He normally does not like to be held. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be going on?

First get his feet cleaned and take a really good look at them. Look for any cuts, scrapes, abrasions, lesions, unusual bumps, unusual coloring (spots), slivers, stickers, swelling, etc. Also feel the legs and thighs to see if they are warm or hot. You want to first rule out Bumblefoot or any cuts that could allow infection to set in. Those things need to be treated as soon as possible.

We soaked him in and Epsom salt bath and he absolutely loved it! He kept drinking the water which kind of makes me wonder if he was possibly dehydrated. He has been walking better since his bath, and I have made sure to check his feet and how he walks daily. Thanks for the advice :)
