Male or female?

Hatched this Brahma 8wks ago and not sure if we are male or female. Already had a male in the group start crowing this weekend. Any ideas ???

I’m still struggling with this guessing game myself. How does this birds comb and wattle compare with your crowing one?

The other male was an orloff and was also 8wks and he was a definite crower lol

What are the determining factors? I’m still learning.

For a start, he has wattles beginning.
His comb is quite raised, and his face coloured.
And the face is a cockerels face.
Sometimes you get pullets that just have a pullet's face. This cockerel has a cockerel face. Maybe that last one isn't very scientific.

Would a female not have wattles at that age? I have an Araucana that I am pretty sure is a cockerel, but it has no wattles.

Araucana typically have very small wattles anyway.
Having no wattles doesn't mean a bird isn't a cockerel, but a pullet with wattles is very suspicious at this age.
