We've noticed one of our hens - probably the Hy-Line Brown - has started to produce ridged eggs - the latest being very odd.

We don't know the ages of the hens, and wondered if this happened before they stopped laying, but hope that someone more knowledgeable could help us with their thoughts.

    Thanks!

Needing help. Just pulled this out of my Polish girls vent. She is lackluster and off her feed since yesterday. Gave antibiotics and vitamins and soaked her butt in Epsom salt water. Also started Wazine. It looks like part of a failed egg. She was up in the nest box all day yesterday and her abdomen was pulsating. egg.JPG egg1.JPG egg.JPG egg1.JPG egg2.JPG

No Fowl Play, that is an egg membrane from a shell-less egg that has broken inside.

Those could be from a virus called infectious bronchitis. Have you noticed any sneezing goin on in your flock. The egg whites can also become runny after bronchitis.

In my reading a lot of people recommend antibiotic treatment for internal egg problems. Have you not seen this? Is it incorrect?
