I have a mallard duck female and a Pekin duck male. I want to know if they could mate because I know that the Pekin is a subspecies of mallard but the male seems a little too big for her. And if you have any pictures or a discretion of what the ducklings would be like that would help. Thanks:D

Your Pekin should be kept away from your mallard as the size difference could kill her. Pekins are so big and heavy that a Lil mallard wouldn't stand a chance.

But I've read they mate in water and I have a pool for then so would that help? Plus they have been best friends since I took them home and the can't stand being apart from eat

Yes it would still happen. Pekins are (in my opinion) one of the most aggressive breeds when it comes to mating. So that along with the great size difference would really cause problems I think.

No this is not true. I have 3 male pekins and 5 mallard ducks. They mate fine with no problem whats so ever on land. They will be fine, all ducks are tough
