Do female mallards only lay seasonally? I have 5 mallards I'm raising. I plan of clipping their wings to prevent them flying away. But, will they lay consistently if raised in captivity and on a good diet? They are only around a month old now. (One duckling is 2 weeks older than the others, though.) Any feed back would be great. If they only lay in the spring, I might trade a few for a good laying domestic breed.
