I let one of my mille fleur's brood out her eggs. I went out this morning and there was a tiny little baby with her. Now what? This is the first hatch I've ever had. Do I let mom do what mom's do, or do I need to do something as well. In this section of the coop there is just mom, dad and now one baby. She seems to be protecting her baby, keeping a very close eye on it.

You don't have to do much, she will teach it everything...put water where the chick can reach it and some food in a saucer....the hen will do the rest:)

Take out any deep water dishes, so mom won't take Jr. over to drink from it. I use quart & gallon waterers, so the babies can get out if they fall in. Show pics of the new family!

I put a chick waterer very close, and a chick feeder with chick starter feed. Yes, mom will eat it, but after brooding so long, she'll need the extra calories and protein. Other than that, it's up to mom to do much better than WE would do, ourselves!
