With milder weather the last few days, just got my taps in yesterday. Got a light run yesterday afternoon and this morning when the sun was out. Still gonna be a bit until the floodgates open, but if you live in a slightly warmer place than central MN, you should already be collecting.

Earliest start I can remember, but we've had some cold winters since I started.

I started with 2 taps Sunday morning to see what would happen. Nothing yet. When I get the first drip, I will be tapping the rest. This is only my second year and last year the sugar bug bit me. Got 1.25 gallons of finished syrup from 4 taps. 65 gals of sap. This year I hope to add more.

You're in my neck of the woods. Sap should be running full bore for you by now, at least on open, sunny trees. Floodgates really opened up today. Finished off just under a gallon from the weeks off and on slow boil.

Nice when the trees run slow. I can just fill the pan, stoke and damp the stove and let it steam overnight. Steams off a couple gallons of water while I sleep.

I started with 5 taps in early to mid February and I live in CT. Trees are running good this year in my area
Edited to add: after 4 days, we got about 20 gallons of sap

Floodgates are open again. Really strange run this year. We had a week of cold weather shut it down, then some milder weather the last few days started it up again. Warm and windy today and I can hardly keep up with the taps.

Unusually high sugar yield this year. Silver maples in the 20-30:1 range on the last batch. Surprised me when it started climbing the sides of the boiler and I almost scorched over 2 gallons. Very tasty syrup also. We had a wet/warm summer with a very dry fall and a long growing season last year. I think the 2 correlate.

So far, it's turning out to be a banner year for liquid gold, at least on my piece.

We tapped end of January. First ever so early. Got in 450 on pipeline. Had so much sap pouring in yesterday (76°)that my husband trucked 300 gallons down the mountain to his friends. He's been boiling from about 7am to 5 on each day. Well over 2,000 gallons of sap so far, around 40 gallons syrup. Going to keep going to the bitter end.
