These blue birchen Marans are 6 weeks. I asked for gender clues a few weeks ago but I wanted to see what you all thought now that they are a bit older.

Then this photo has chick #4 ~obvious cockerel and #5, which I also think is a cockerel (and an autosexed smaaland pullet):

Let me know what you think. I'm still trying to rehome the one sure cockerel so it'd be nice to rehome all the boys at once...
thanks for your help!

I have marans in the brooder about their age, in summer they would be out of the brooder by now. Mine were Maran Sex Links (BCM x Cuckoo) and I kept one of the males. The males develop their Roo Comb so soon that even if he didn't have a white dot on his head I can tell with this breed the first week. Although sometimes a cockerel Maran will develop late but not very often. I only had one male maran develop late and he had a serious leg injury which may have been the reason why he didn't develop a comb right away.

I’d say chick 1 and 3 are hens, not sure about chick 2. The crown is more pronounced - looks more cockerel than hen. We are having the same problem with one of our turkens.
chick 2 is confusing me too... but I agree that it's looking more cockerel too.
I need a pic of whole bird, standing sideways to tell.
It's raining buckets here but when the weather is better, I'll post some better full bodied shots.
the large comb chick is a male, the other 2 could go either way but I was a betting man I would bet they are pullets.
I hope you are right~ I'd love to have 2 Marans:love

#4 cockerel for sure
#5 needs better picture (if the wattles are red it is a boy)
#2 has pale wattles. I had a chick like that and it turned out to be a girl with somewhat bigger comb and wattles.

from these pictures it seems you might have 1 or 2 boys. please post a better pic from #5.
