Marek’s now what

I had Marek’a disease in my flock. I have culled all of my chickens since I was planning on putting them all in the freezer anyway just sped up the time line. I have cleaned the coop several times. My question is after I get new birds in the future would I be able to ever sell some of the birds from a new flock since I did have Marek’s here on my property? I like to hatch eggs and always end up with more roosters than I need. In the past I would sell them. Will this ever be possible?

my understanding is that marek’s lives in the environment for months after the chickens are gone and I don’t know of a “test” to check if it’s gone. someone else or the internet might have a exact timeframe for you! sorry to hear about your flock!

If I remember correctly, Marek's survives in the environment upto 1yr.

It's between several months, to 1 year. But giving a whole year before introducing new birds into the area would be best.
