I my flock is Marek free, 1-2 years old. Maybe I buy a chicken. Would there be any way to know if it's a carrier? I mean you can quaranteen a chicken for 6 weeks, but is that going to assure someone that the chicken doesn't have Marek's?

There is no way that I know of. The only way they test for it is through necropsy, to see the tumors etc... You can however vaccinate older birds too, but no guarantees..... [IMG] Mostly when they are are older they have experienced it in nature already, but not always..... it's a gamble

So I guess if you add an adult, there is never any way to know if they carry Marek's?
