So I had given up on my plan to raise my own birds from hatch because we wound up getting Mareks (likely came from a neighbor few houses away).
I was just reading Gail Damerows’ book on Chicken health and she mentioned Fayouomi are resistant. So would that mean I could breed my own without vaccines? And if I cross fayouomi’s with other breeds how likely would I be to keep resistance?
I also read about a B1 strain of Leghorns that are resistant. How would I find those? I’d love to be able to be self sufficient with my chickens- hopefully this can be a working option.
Anyone experimenting along these lines?
