The other post about the chick with ink on its head, made me wonder what you all think about this? We have 4 chicks that look the exact same...my daughter would like to put a dab of different colored nail polish on a toe on each so that she can tell them apart. Is this crazy or is there any reason that we shouldn't do this?

I wouldnt do the toe. The other chicks will pick at each others toes. I would use either washable marker or food coloring on the head.

Or you could buy leg bands in different colors. Just be prepared to buy multiple sizes since they grow so fast. I have 9 varieties coming and the only way I can tell them apart is the bands. So many chicks arrive yellow.

If you use food coloring do you just put a drop on their head or do u have to mix it with water first?

I would just put a smear on the hear without diluting it.

Thanks for the suggestions! Since there are 4 - we'll probably just go with a drop of food coloring - red, blue, green. :)
