That small grinder is small. I wonder what options are there for a larger one that is also manual. soaked grains are a lot less difficult to coarse grind and so I would go that way.

I have one. I think it is the best made hand mill available short of (possibly) some in the several thousands of dollars price range. This one can be powered by hand, bike, or motor (your own or their kit.) It is a LOT of work to get fine flour by hand but a LOT less work to get very coarsy ground grain.

I didn't look into whether it is a good choice for soaked grains.

Will chickens eat amaranth? I can't grow most grains without exhorbitant water bills, we have a drought that has been going on for years. But I can grow amaranth.
Yes, but they say you have to harvest and cook it first.

Straining out those little seeds is tedious. In our climate, they often start molding before they fully dry and if the seeds are not mature and dry they are impossible to separate. We had some where the heads were drooping down to the ground. The chickens did not destroy the heads, but they picked at the leaves.

I am familiar with both teff and amaranth. tiny little seeds, much smaller than canola. but nutritious and very efficient crops in arid conditions. this is perhaps a too technical question, but how can combines effectively separate these little things?
