Mathilda had some hormonal issues and ended up tossing the golf balls out of the nest in a huff and has since gone to rejoin the other biddies!!! I now have 6 too many eggs to put under the other broody, Ruth. I have another batch of eggs already started in the incubator - Mathilda's lot were not supposed to hatch in there! I am wondering if I can just turn off the automatic turner when we get near to hatching time and then try to catch little ones as they pip and put them under the hen that is hatching on the same day (12 hours earlier) I am hoping she will hatch enough of the eggs under her early enough that I can slip in eggs from the bator as soon as she has room? Does that make sense? What do you think? Otherwise I am stuck with a staggered hatch and I don't know what the heck to do.... advice or ideas very welcome!
