Max height for quail run/ Cage

I read somewhere that quail could gain enough speed to brake there neck before hitting the top of there cage. How tall should I make the top of their pen/ cage?

Are you building a raised coop/cage or are you building a flight pen/aviary?

Mine has and 8ft roof.

you can also make the roof out of a material flexible enough that they won't do too much damage on impact, soft wire for example.

I'm going to build a raised coup for now. Right now my goal is to have enough birds to have eggs for my family.
