May be getting a Silkie....

Not very familiar with this breed. Other than some pics I've seen on here.

Anyone care to share some info? What are their eggs like?




One of the volunteers at the ministry I work with has a friend who raises Silkies. He said he'd get me a pair if I'd like.... I think we decided on one hen for now, maybe add another later or even a rooster?

You might want to jump into the Silkie threads to ask any questions. This is my first time with Silkies too, and they are such neat little guys! Eggs are small - medium in size, color is white to creamy/pinky white. You might want to consider getting three of them right off the bat. My other chickens don't recognize the Silkies as "chickens", so they will need company from their own kind, in my opinion. Keep in mind too, that they are smaller than other breeds and that larger chickens may pick on them, or worse. I keep mine seperate from the large fowl. That's just the way I do it, I know others may do it differently.
