I just got 3 ducks from Ideal Poultry. They are doing great...but they are already bored! I finally drew little marks with a sharpie around the brooder walls so they would have something to play with. I'm wondering if it's too early to give them a cricket to play with, or a meal worm. They couldn't be more than 48-72 hours old. Any idea?

Some give their ducks toys - it needs to be ducksafe, those little critters can get into all kinds of mischief - I think there are threads with recommended playthings (nothing they can swallow or choke on or get stuck in or on).

Regarding treats, take a look at the Stickies there is a list of treats there. At the same time, I think I would wait a week before introducing mealworms or crickets, and would be giving them a teaspoon of chick grit a day in their food, so they will have something to chew with. Otherwise there is a risk that their digestive systems might become impacted and in the worst cases, that can be fatal.
