I read on another post that vaccinated chicks should not be given medicated feed. Is this true? I have a large 50 lb bag of medicated chick feed that is already opened. My chicks, which shipped today, have been vaccinated for Marek’s disease. Can I use my existing feed?

Your chicks were vaccinated for Marek's only? If so, you can use medicated feed, no worries.

In the US most medicated chick starters contain Amprolium which is a Coccidiostat. This is a very small amount of medication which may help chicks build resistance to Coccidia which is a protozoa naturally found in soil and in their poop. Some hatcheries also offer Coccidiosis vaccines. IF your chicks are vaccinated for Coccidiosis, then you should not use medicated feed that contains a Coccidiostat because it could cancel out the vaccine.
