Medicated feed and other food questions

I read that you shouldn’t give medicated chick starter after 8 weeks.”Medicated feed after the eighth week will actually prevent the chicks from developing their own immunity and it should be stopped.”

If this is true, is there a good substitute feed I can give my teenager chicks? My TSC is out of non medicated chick starter. I know the main concern with layer feed is too much calcium. Meat Bird feed has similar levels of calcium as starter feed, but more protein. Is meat bird feed an ok substitute?

What's the protein % on the meat bird feed?

You could also look for feed labeled all flock or grower. Anything around 17-20%ish protein, and around 1%ish calcium, should be fine.
