I'm a first time chicken Mama, with an urban residential coop. I have one Silkie, and one awfully boyish Easter Egger....both 12 weeks. Lady Rene (the Easter Egger) is practicing her crow mornings and evenings. It's getting louder and louder!

I've read online that hens can take up crowing, but she seems really developed for 2 and a half months. Any thoughts? The feathers...they could be round, right? Am I in denial?

That there is a roo. When the feathering is really red on an EE, it's usually a boy. But besides the feathering, everything else says roo as well, especially the crowing, and the super red comb for his age.

That's definetely a roo. I started out with 6 lovely chickens and wound up raising 5 out of 7 roos! It's hard when you raise them and get attached to them.
