I have a hen that went broody at the same time I was filling my incubator with hatching eggs.
She hatched 5 chicks and my incubator hatched 19 chicks.
The chicks are now 3 weeks old.....
Here is the issue, I don't want to move the hen back with the old flock. I want her to stay with her chicks. PLUS, I want to add the other chicks from the incubator to the mix. . . . I have one large pen that I want to dedicate to the mommy, her 5 chicks, and the incubators 19 chicks.
Are there any words of advice? I know I could mix the chicks without too much trouble. The mother hen still being in the mix is where I am concerened... Do I wait until the mommy is sick of being a mommy? I don't want the mommy being nasty to the new chicks...
Thanks for words of advice
