Can anyone tell me what the differences in looks are between the Merriam wild turkey and the domestic Orlopp Bronze?
Also, I just acquired a Merriam turkey Tom, who has been in an indoor coop 24/7 for a long time. The previous owner had tried to let him go but he was too scared to leave the coop. He is now in the coop with our turkeys and chickens and is terrified of everyone and everything. We also have a run for him to go outside. Hopefully he will get more comfortable soon! My question about him is, he has lost all his tail feathers except about two, he looks ROUGH. Do the tail feathers grow back? If so how long might that take? Is it possible that he is just in the middle of a molt?
