Great news all. The June 12th date is locked in and it will be at the Delta Mills Park pavillion from 10am-3pm. 6941 Old River Trail, Lansing Click on this link for a map of how to get there. http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=L...42.760098&longitude=-84.64903&geocode=ADDRESS Last year's event was a great sucess and I predict that this year's will be even better. It would be nice to have some idea of how many people are planning to attend and Laura our Hillybilly hen has started a thread to keep us informed. Please add your name. I wouldn't be surprised if we have 75+ members attend. When you add in their families it should be a wonderful time. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=3435011#p3435011] Caycee, aka YakLady has volunteered to maintain a food list for this years event. You can click the following link to sign up and see what others are bringing. Based on what was brought last year I am not responsible for the drool on your keyboard. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=3429517#p3429517 Do you have a few birds you'd like to sell? Or maybe you'd like to trade for something you've always wanted. Ooopsy Daisy will be maintaining a list so check it out. Let Carol know what you've got or need. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=3432855#p3432855 Here's a link to the agenda for the day: http://www.mediafire.com/file/hbc2moqdnnb/Chickenstock agenda.pdf Kids & Chickenstock Last year quite a few members brought their children and I would like to encourage it again for this year. Our picnic site is isolated from the rest of the park. It lends well to kids and the playground equipment is close enough for you to be able to keep an eye on your kids yet far enough from the sale/trade area and the pavillion for them to not be underfoot. Last year several brought games, and there was a limbo setup and many enjoyed. If anyone has any ideas on things that could be brought or games to be played that would make the event more enjoyable for the kids please speak up. I had though we could have an egg hunt for the smaller kids to find candy filled eggs hidden around the site. At last year's event several people donated items to be given away in a drawing. This year Granny has been crocheting like crazy to make an item for the drawing, and Schutz, a fellow BYCer from Indianapolis, has already contacted me offering to donate an item she has made to our event. Granny is going to double what she is making so that we can send something to the Indiana Chickenstock as well. Oopsy Daisy has very generously donated some of her beautiful light brahmas that some lucky person will win. So if any of you have something you have made, or a chicken related item that you would like to add to our Chickenstock "loot" please contact me. Granny sure is getting excited about Chickenstock. She has crocheted these two doileys for our drawing. Plus she has also crocheted a dozen roses. I've decided to add a couple of vaccum sealed smoked chickens to our drawing NOTE: When you go to any of the above links be sure to go to the very first post to see the current lists.
