Hello,

I have read that fresh mince garlic is great for your chickens. I have been doing that, but since I am always busy, was wondering, if the garlic they sale already minced at the grocery store, that is preserved in water, would also work? Or it must be fresh in order to take advantage of the benefits?

Thank you.

Just remember, garlic has blood thinning properties in it. I'd not feed it daily. I grow my own, and the birds love to eat the little bulbils that grow at the top of the scapes. When I plant those bulbils in the orchard, few of them get to mature, since the chickens run along behind me and hoover them up, unless I shut them in when I'm planting them. I can't imagine having garlic water as my drinking water. Yuck! But, then again, I'm not a chicken. I'd rather put the garlic in my FF, or simply mix it into a wet mash if deliberately feeding it to the flock.

You all might want to sit down.

You ready?

I have fed 8 hens, raw garlic....weekly for one straight year.
