My friend's miniature silkie was found dead this morning [IMG] She hadn't appeared ill, hadn't lost any weight and doesn't appear to have been attacked by anything - no bite marks or wounds etc.

Not that it'll make any difference but any ideas how this might have happened? She has disinfected the coop in case it was something in there and obviously doesn't want to lose any more.....

Realistically, it could have been anything. She may have been bitten by a poisonous spider. She could have drunk from the the a bad puddle. There may have been something wrong internally like malfunctioning organs. She may have caught a viral disease from a sparrow, the range is so big. You could get an autopsy at a local lab to find the actual cause of death. Your friend took the right action to clean the coop. Watch over the other birds and clean the feeders/waterers with a good scrubbing.
