Misshapen Egg

Our Gold Sex Link hen has been laying eggs that are asymmetrical for a while now. She has been the alpha hen and after we lost our rooster last year she has been playing flock protector. She also stopped laying in the nesting boxes but has been laying in the middle of the coop (and therefore getting the egg covered in poop.)

We recently acquired a new rooster, but he is recovering from an injury and I'm not sure he has yet "assumed control" of the flock. Alpha hen has been loosing some wait since we got the rooster. Any ideas why she is laying eggs like this consistently?

Some causes are a defective shell gland, being frightened or disturbances, and some illnesses and infections like bronchitis. How old is she and does she appear to be sick?
