Missing for Days Cat Returned - Major UTI

Hey all!

Looking for some home remedies y’all have tried that work.

Two of our cats disappeared Fri. Extremely odd.
We’ve searched & called to no avail.

Today as the spouse was getting ready to leave I hear the hollering that Sam has been found! (Half bro still missing; praying he shows soon.)

He’s weak, dirty, and really dehydrated. But he also has a UTI as he is peeing blood. (Once he finally was able to pee he leaked blood/urine for a bit too.)
I called our vet, they no longer accept walk ins & earliest would be next Mon. 😳 Vet tech also said that to just honestly keep him hydrated. If he’s not getting better in a few days it’s trauma & go to emergency vet. (We can NOT afford that.)

I gave him about 3mil of colloidal silver; I know that will help him. But is there anything else I can give him herb wise/natural wise?
Or can I even go get some like amoxicillin from Tractor Supply to give him?

Any help/advice welcomed!!
Please don’t bash though.

This is VERY concerning. He needs to be seen by a vet asap. If your vet is unavailable, call another. Tell them he is struggling to pass bloody urine... It is an emergency and they should recognize that.
Male cats have a very narrow urethra and it can easily become blocked by crystals and swelling when suffering with a UTI. An obstruction is life threatening. A total blockage will not resolve itself and will lead to death in a matter of days.
Sorry to have to scare you, but your kitty needs more than an at-home remedy. We lost our first cat to repeat blockages (once they block the first time, the chances of it happening again go way, way up)

My heart goes out to you and your kitty. Please keep us updated.

Thank you for your advice & wisdom on the subject. Our vet actually said they’d accept him today & I shot up there.

They’re going to keep him till Sat w a catheter in him, meds & watch him.
But as it turns out he actually has some wounds on his left leg, maggots were in it causing more damage. And at least 4-6mos ago he had fractured that & it’s healed up.

The plan was if he urinates Sat after they take the catheter out he can come home. Now that his wounds are found we will be seeing about that but hopefully it won’t cost more as it’s going to set us back $250. 😱

I will update when I know more. Thanks!

Poor boy! I'm so glad they were able to get him in.
Was the $250 today's cost or an overall estimate? You may want to go ahead and call them to discuss the financial end of things. Hospitalization can get really expensive depending on the area/clinic, and it's standard for them to provide an estimate for major treatment. Don't feel guilty or be afraid to give them a max number, most vets will work around that while still providing the best care they can.

I'm rooting for him. 💜

Thank you again for the advice; yes it was price to pick up on Sat if all was well.

But alas that no longer remains an option as he passed away around 4 or a bit later in his cage at the vets. 💔
Was just too much trauma/stress on his poor body. I wish I had take him yesterday.

I get the heart breaking job to go retrieve the kennel & his collar & pay the bill.

RIP Sam-Sam (adopted us) Summer 2017 or 2018 to 7/7/22.
