I have been having trouble with my rooster because he is a bantam and I was to scared to mix him with my giant amarucuna hens (I got them a week ago) I have had him in a seperate cage. today I let my hens out for the first time, and they stayed near the coop, I also let my rooster out from his little hutch, at first I was really worried that they would fight so I took him to a different part of my yard, but than my mom said that I should let them do what they haft to do so I let my rooster with them and one of the hens, Picky, walked up to him and they fought but all they did was try to jump on each other and no pecking *whew* and the rest of the day continued without many fights and only a little bit of chasing. Now tonight I am going to let him sleep with them and I will not have to have them seperated!

I also have a question, will my bantam mate with the amarucunas?
Thanks,
Rose

A rooster will mate with any hen he can get ahold of, large or small. Whether he can actually accomplish his mission is another story.
