will a mississppi kite , hurt or eat chicken .

No,too small. Aren't kites bug eaters?

Just looked it up. They eat mainly flying bugs, but occasionally eat frogs, baby rabbit,or a small bird, so the chances are slim, but they could take a chick. They are only 12"-14" so they won't carry anything off very big.

No. Have a nest in the woods behind the house. Don't even look at the chickens near as I can see.
