Mites, lice and wood stove ashes...

I read in an article that if you put out wood stove ashes for your chickens to dust themselves with that it will kill any mites or lice. Does anyone know if pellet stove ashes would work in the same way where the pellet stove ash has none of the black coal.

The ash works as a preventive but doesn't treat an existing infestation. Any ash will work.

Thankfully I have not had any signs of mites or lice and they good news is that I can put some ash out for them to dust in to help prevent it. Thank you
