Excuse the newbie question (I am sure this has been asked before, but I am too lazy to do a search) but...can you mix layer quail in with your chickens?

I know a woman who had quail in with her parrots and they stayed on the ground and ate the spilled feed...kinda like a "mop up" crew. My chickens were wasting a lot of feed lately and I thought it might work.

I have Welsummers, Ameraucanas, and a couple Marans. I also have Polish banties and they are tolerated by the full sized chickens.

My wife is Chinese and she likes the idea of quail eggs.

I checked with someone I know who has both (seperately) and she said there may be some diseases that quail are immune to , but chickens are not and visa versa.

Any advice and input will be promptly ignored...j/k.[IMG]
