Mold in fresh pine shavings?

I went out to replenish some pine shavings in our coop and noticed there was a small section in the back that looked like it may be moldy. It was kind of black. Should I use those pine shavings or get new ones?

Does look a little moldy. "I" would probably not risk it and look for another use for it.

If you detect mold on bedding that's stored, you need to get rid of it. Mold spores are very prolific and will spread all over the place.

If you just bought that bag you should return it to the store for a refund.

If you've been keeping it for a while you need to look at how you're storing it and how it could have gotten wet.

I bought it about a month ago and we store it in a building that doesn't leak. We do live in the hard south and the humidity is brutal. Do you think that could the issue?
