molting hen courting another hen:)

Hi. I have a 1 year old sebright hen who has just begun molting. I have noticed that she is now constantly courting (and probably planning to mount) my 1 year old buff orpington hen. She also has been crowing everytime buff goes in to lay, and keeps running back and forth between the garden and the hen box to see buff.

Is this alright? she's totally healthy otherwise, and very active. just a little neurotic right now during the molt.

Have you ever actually witnessed this bird lay an egg? Sebright roos are hen-feathered. Everything your describing SCREAMS rooster. The buff is his lady friend.

yes. we have 3 hens that lay 3 different kinds of eggs. she is not a rooster.
