Molting Mayhem!

    Is it normal for everyone to molt at the same time? Even the ducks are shedding feathers!

    With the shorter daylight hours, it's typical yes. But you should check them over carefully and make sure they don't have any external parasites that are causing the feather loss. Have they been dewormed lately? Now would be a good time, since they're not going to lay during the molt (the protein and energy goes to growing out new feathers) so you won't have many eggs to toss. Making sure they're clean of internal and external parasites before winter sets in is a good way to help them get through the winter if it's harsh where you live.
