At what age do I begin to transition my chicks out of chick feed and into adult feed? They're already roaming the yard (backyard farmer here) and have enjoyed what they have found in the way of proteins and greens. Right now, they're about 9 1/2 weeks old.

The general schedule is 0 to 6 or 8 weeks for starter, 6/8 weeks to 18 or the start of lay for grower. Most feed bags have what the manufacturer recommends for their feed.

Thanks for the info. It recommends at about 16 weeks, to begin the transition which sounds about right.
