momma hen picking at egg ?

I have 2 eggs that the chicks have already started to chip away at and thier beeks are poking out . The hen has started tp pick at the openings and the skin of the eggs and i think the chick but not sure but they strt to PEEP realy loud when she does . Is this normal or is she trying to kill the chick ? HELP

Wow! I don't know, but I would trust the mother hen's instincts. I can't imagine she would want to kill it unless she knows it's not strong enough to survive in the first place. Best wishes.

Is she maybe trying to help the little one out...?? I agree, trust the mother's instinct; unless someone else much wiser comes along and says something different
