Do chickens eat Monkey Grass? It is harmful, or good for them?

They will eat it. It won't hurt them, but dang, I wish they'd leave it alone!

I went to bing and looked up monkey grass so I'd know what you were talking about. I don't think we have any of that on our property, but as a general rule my chickens leave alone anything that's not good for them.
I imagine it might be different if they were confined to a run and that was the only thing available to peck at or eat.

I think it's also called "mondo grass", if that rings a bell. Lots of folks line sidewalks and planting beds with it. Wish I could, sigh.

We have something in and around the yard that the old-timers call bare naked lady. The green part looks very similiar, but the flower is very different. My chickens have no use for it. Not much growing in our yard they care for other than the wild strawberry plants and I've seen them partake of a rose leaf every once in awhile.

  6. I've wondered the same thing.
