    Hi there,

    Calling all Bantam specialists...

I couldn't resist the Ideal bantam assortment special and they arrived Friday at a friend's (I was oot the weekend). [IMG] I'll be picking them up this Friday, in the meantime I asked her to take pictures for me. This is what I got.

Anyone care to guess what they are? BTW, three are MIA from the shot, I could only count 22 and 25 made it (one extra didn't [IMG] ). I'm hoping there's at least a couple of d'Uccles in there as I asked the woman to put on the order form that I like d'Uccles (don't know if that works). [IMG]

This really is a challenge since it's a group shot and you can't see all the legs and combs, just colors/markings and not all of those.

I don't see any silkies (hooray) and there's an obvious light brahma - so cute - and what I think is a black OEGB (with the black legs and beak). Next to him/her is a black cochin and almost out of the picture possibly a white Japanese. I also think the black/white one in the group is a mottled cochin, the red with yellow head a red cochin and there appears to be a few buff-colored chicks - cochin or black-tail japanese?.

I'm particularly curious about the one that appears to have a light brown back and yellow head - could that be a Blue Mille Fleur d'Uccle?

Is the one on the right facing the camera a silver duckwing OEGB? Or a silver-pencilled cochin?

There are several brown/black/grey ones that could be any combo of Mille fleur d'Uccle/GL Cochin/GL Sebright/Buff brahma/other - which of these do you think are the same vs. different breeds? A couple have grey patterend backs, some have white fronts, one or two look almost solid red/brown, which doesn't seem to match any descriptions of what is available.

Go ahead and give it your best shot - commentary on why you chose your answers is appreciated, especially on the group chicks. Extra bragging rights to those who correctly guess the light grey back just behind what I think is a red cochin. [IMG]

Thank for your help. I'll post a follow up once I get the chicks home and can do a closer inspection of legs, combs, patterns, etc.

Sorry, not sure. The ones in the back maybe look like austrolorp bantams? Can't remember what you thought they were. [IMG]

I don't see any silver duckwing OEGB in this group.

Wow...what a group!!! I see no silver laced cochins...or mille fleur d'uccles. It's crazy but what I swear I see is a couple of Golden laced polish...not in the bantam grouping...hhhmmm

Good luck. Post some separate shots of them when you get a chance....

The picture makes them hard to tell apart since they are all clumped up together. Could you get some pictures of 3-4 in small groups? Maybe with grouping chicks that look alike together?

Quote:LOL I wouldn't mind if I got GL polish hen to replace the one I lost earlier this year.

I will post better shots this weekend or next week!

P.S. Don't tell my dog, [IMG] but I think I am more excited to see my chicks and figure out what they are, then to go see his new 2-week-old puppies. Puppies and chicks, what a fun weekend this is going to be. [IMG]
