First, here is my muscovy duckling with his surrogate silkie mom. He will be a week old tomorrow. I hatched him but then decided he really would be better off with a mom since he had no siblings. So I took the eggs she had and gave her a baby. She is trying to teach him but he is not doing what she is telling him. Guess his duck instincts have kicked in. But they seem to be doing ok.

He is trying to swim already and mucking up the water bowl. Had to pour most of it out and make it more shallow.

Hope you enjoy. Did not get everyone, but thought I would post what I had. They grow so fast, don't they.

Thanks everyone. That surrogate mom is very patient, but for some reason, a duck is not as easily adopted I guess. It wont follow her and it wont get up under her like the chicks do. It will get on her back some, but when I put them out into the run, it just goes off without her. I put them back into the small coop for a couple more days to give them more time to bond. Maybe that will help. But he/she is doing great, so I am not too worried. I just wanted him to have company, and he has that. So all is good.

OOOHHHHH so cute! I can't wait until our new order gets here. We ordered our first duckling! My son is so excited. He is hoping the duckling will follow him around like he is the momma! [IMG]
