I have two 1 month old chicks, one is a pulley the other is a roo, and he's very dominent, anyway I had 4 little chicks hatch last night, I wanted to see how they would react towards the bigger chicks and how they would react to the babies, after they was more stable on there feet I tried it, at first my bigger two was puzzles what the fluff balls where, and was being very noisey, well my big pulley started acting like a mum towards these 4 babies, showing them the food, water and laying down fluffing up next to them, I thought this was bizarre tbh, and my roo was also doing the same, they was like there mothers, telling them off when they are being naughty, just a little peck on there heads, they are being very good together, is this normal? I never thought my pullet would be motherly after not ever having a mum and just having me, well thought this was interesting and to share! One o my cheeky little chicks are no longer evil to the other 3 now
