    viileafclover Just Hatched

    Mar 25, 2017
Hey hey hey, new brood mother here. I had always talked about getting chickens. Then reality hit and i got 3. Not entirely sure of the breeds, theyre mixed and i got them from someone else. One i know is mostly a Buff Brahma(Geraldine), she hatched the other 2 i have. Ones black with feathered feet and irridecent feathers (Bomb) and the 3rd is Orange with no feathered feet, but shes starting to fill in black Brahma feather marks and her names Honey.
I got them beginning of dec 2016. Geraldine lays 1-2 eggs (the second being super rare since Bomb and Honey started laying) and the other 2 just started laying eggs beginning of Feb 2017. i was under the impression Bomb and Honey wouldnt lay eggs until summers end by previous owners info. So im assuming from what i have learned since that Bomb and Honey are about 5/6 months old now. Geraldine i havent a clue aside from shes over the halfway pount in age. I even thought she was done laying eggs and thats why i was allowed to choose her from all the rest. She just took a break.
My girls reside in a repurposed dog house (4×4×4) (it was a big dog) insulated walls and ceiling with hay, built 4 boxes and a roosting pole, and added dragon curtains.
Recently (last week) i decided against breeding her, and just bought 3 new chicks. Ameraucauna (Annabelle), Golden Comet(Chatty Cathy), and a golden laced wyandot(Nosey Nel).
They live in a drawer ive got decked out for them, complete with a roosting pole for Chatty Cathy.
So ive got 6 birds. 3 grown and 3 adolescents. Oh. And kids. Ive got almost 4yr old that adores the chicks and chickens. And we do childcare too so its fun and learning all around, especially for kids that have never had an animal to care for.
