I would like to know what kinds of experiences other people have had with motorhomes. What did you like, dislike? How reliable are they? How are they for travelling with kids? What would you change about your motor home?

I'm just starting with pie in the sky ideas, and I want a little info.

Fellow Texan with a travel trailer here. I love, love, LOVE mine. The best tip I can give is shop until you find "the one." Don't settle. As soon as I walked into the one we have now, it felt like home. If everything isn't right for you: the layout, the size, the price--walk away. You can get great deals on them right now because everyone is selling theirs. You can buy a repossessed one for a great price.

My Family has a small RV and it is great. The best thing about it is that I show horses and there are times when we do not want to leave the horses alone so the RV comes in great.

We have a 28 ft. mobile and loved it when we used it. We have to get new transmissions seals put in it, and tune it up and then we are going to sell it. It's gorgeous inside, all completely redone before the previous owner bought it. Sleeps 6 and it was so much fun to go camping in it!!! DH got sick, and it just got too $$ to maintain.

We bought a 20 somthing foot for $2000 a couple years ago. Its nice. Its older but doesnt leak and everything works

The only thing about them if you have real little ones is out "glass" door pop open real easy and its a little bit of a tumble out of those things. Make sure it latches good. Other than that I LOVE it.

Sarah, that's the sort of price I'm hoping for. I don't even really need a restroom, just a kitchen. I'm hoping that next summer I can road trip with my kiddos to Alaska to visit my mom and sister.

I don't mind older, I just want it to run and have heat and ac.

oh i would love one, my aunt has one, she is away every weekend with the kids.
I was talking to my hubbie about getting one, but we cant afford it. Im so jealous, good luck with it

We purchased a motorhome about 4 years ago. A real oldie but goodie, if you know what I mean?! Its a 77 model Coachman! let me tell you something, it was the best $1,000.00 the hubby ever spent. We have spent many weekends camping with it. It hasn't been used now for over 2 years, because of money and it needing some work. But yeah, I'd say go for it. I grew up with a hugh Winnebago, when we were kids, that my family went away with to the Carolinas every summer! Its great fun. And people that camp are just the best!!
