Bought this "girl" as a mottled cochin bantam. She's about 12-13 weeks and today I noticed "she" greward in light colored neck feathers. I haven't heard a crow and she was the boss until I got a for sure roo. Wondering if anyone can tell me if it's a pullet or cockerel.

Well, it's not mottled, it's a mixed color.

Honestly, it looks feminine to me, and were it older I'd say pullet. But that's really too much comb for the age. If you're positive on age, I've got to say cockerel. I'd love to see pics in another month to see how things turn out.

I'm not positive on age, I can't remember how old she was when I got her, but I know she was a little Itty bitty chick when I got her 12 weeks ago. I also bought chicks from the same person that day that had only hatched that day, that ended up being half her size. So I really have no idea how old she is.

Even at 12 weeks a cochin bantam cockerel would have male feathers "saddle, hackle, tail" by now. Its a pullet.

Thank you! I can do that. She's my bossy chicken and it's pretty hilarious. She's half the size of my LF, but managed to end up the top bird.

It's definitely a rooster. He started crowing the day after I posted this, never shuts up, does a little fluffy feet dance every time I go near his girls, and bit me when I tried picking him up. He's awesome with his girls. I'll cry when he goes.... but he has to. Young kids and mean roosters don't mix.
