moulting

One of my four hens has moulted... and rather than losing a few feathers, has lost MOST of her feathers... she looks like she is on chemotherapy, is miserable... not laying eggs, and not roosting at night, but sitting on the nest. She is still just as active and is eating.. is this normal?
